Apple made several privacy announcements today. The trillion-dollar company is rolling out an ‘App Privacy' label in the App Store, providing a more detailed and readable view of app privacy. Apple has also refreshed its Privacy website with new details and updated its privacy policy. Here is all the information about the changes that Future Horizon has updated.

App security label
Apple started requiring developers to submit their new security information to the App Store to update their app on December 8 . Now, new App Security labels have officially appeared on the App Store for users.
These privacy “nutrition labels” were first introduced at WWDC over the summer, with Apple saying the goal is to better inform app users on iDevices about the privacy practices of individual apps. The Privacy label of the application is divided into three parts: “The data is used to track you – data used to track you”, “data linked to you – data linked to you” and “The data is not linked to you – data not linked to you”.
A transparent overview of an app's security practices is key to building trust with their potential users. Developers now have the opportunity to detail their app's privacy practices directly in the App Store for users to review, including the types of data the app may collect, whether that data is shared with third parties, and the option for users to opt out.
Apple has emphasized that there is some other important information that developers should remember while preparing the App Privacy “nutrition labels” for their apps:
- Developers should identify all possible data collections and uses, even if certain data will only be collected and used in limited situations.
- Developer responses must comply with the App Store Review Guidelines and any applicable laws.
- It is the developers' responsibility to keep your answers accurate and up to date. If your methods change, update your answer in App Store Connect.
Apple says that the new security information is required for all apps, including Mac, iPhone, iPad, Apple Watch, and Apple TV. To release any updates to their apps, developers will also be required to provide this additional security information.
Website and privacy policy new from Apple
Apple's updated privacy policy is designed to be easier for users to understand, and it begins to broaden what Apple considers personal data:
At Apple, we believe strongly in fundamental rights to privacy – and those fundamental rights should not be different depending on where you live in the world. That's why we consider any data relating to an identified or identifiable individual, or to whom Apple is associated or linked, to be “personal data,” regardless of where that individual lives. This means that data that directly identifies you – such as your name – is personal data, and also data that does not directly identify you, but could reasonably be used to identify you – such as a device's serial number – is personal data.
